The study aimed to find out how corporate governance contributes to changes in Kenyan commercial banks’ financial performance. The investigation time frame was a five-year term from 2014 to 2018. CBK database and financial statements published from 2014 to 2018 among selected banks were crucial information bases for the investigator while focusing on net profit, assets, deposits, liabilities, equity among other related information. Descriptive statistics and correlations of the factors were carried out. ANOVA and F-Statistic at a significance of 5% level was used in finding out regression model significance whereas adjusted R-square, was used to find out extent of variability in financial performance indicated by variables which were independent. Basing on findings, adjusted R square was 0.065 showing 6.5% of the effect of board size, board composition, liquidity and bank size on the financial performance was clarified by the model. The investigation presumed that corporate governance influences the financial performance of the commercial banks in Kenya. The investigation recommends for a similar study incorporating qualitative factors.
This will ensure both the qualitative and quantitative factors are considered in the analysis to ensure the results provide more Insights.
